Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan : Organic Farming, Agriculture-Academia Linkage part of 100 day agenda
Taking charge as the Union Agriculture Minister of Bharat, Shivraj Singh Chouhan has led emphasis on organic farming under the agenda for first 100 days. The duo of PM Modi and Shivraj Singh Chouhan have led the campaign for organic farming from the front, for more than a decade.
Presiding a meeting of the officials from the Ministry of Agrculture, Union Minister for Agriculture called for increased mechanisation of farms to improve agricultural productivity. He further laid emphasis on the need to link agricultural education with profession. The decision aims to link students attaining higher education in agriculture sciences to farming practises.
Union Agriculture Minister, Chouhan stressed for intensive discussions for improving utility of Kisan Vikas Kendras (KVKs) to make them reach the last farmer in the country.
Shivraj S. Chouhan, the Union Agriculture Minister also mentioned that natural farming practises need to be simplified so that more and more farmers adopt it for their farming. The Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan asserted that developing one hundred crop varieties and one hun one hundred crop varieties and one hundred certification of new technologies are part of 100-day plan for ICAR.
Chouhan, the Union Agriculture Minister expressed happiness that prediction for Southwest monsoon is above normal for this year.

As chief minister of Madhya Pradesh for nearly 17 years, he steered the state’s agricultural transformation through facilitating access to irrigation and investment in rural roads and infrastructure for marketing of produce. Madhya Pradesh became the country’s second largest wheat producer, apart from being No 1 or 2 in crops as diverse as soyabean, maize, chickpea, red lentil, mustard, tomato, onion, garlic, ginger, coriander and fenugreek, on Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s watch as Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh.
Madhya Pradesh also boasts of being number one in organic farming in Bharat, an achievement from Chouhan’s tenure.
Given the credentials of Shivraj Singh Chouhan, he was the first choice for the Union Agriculture Minister’s Office under Modi 3.0
Organic Farming
Organic farming is an agricultural process that replaces chemical fertilisers with biological fertilisers and pest control acquired from animal or plant waste. Organic farming has been a much needed solution to the environmental sufferings caused by the use of chemical pesticides and synthetic fertilisers.
The duo of Prime Minister Narendra Modi of Bharat and Shivraj Singh Chouhan as CM of Madhya Pradesh have led the cause of organic farming from the front, for more than a decade.
Agriculture-Academia linkage
