Congress’ DK Suresh, who raised demands for a separate Dakshin Bharat, loses Bengaluru Rural : Lok Sabha 2024

The Congress Party’s DK Suresh, who demanded a Separate Nation for Dakshin Bharat, lost re-election to Lok Sabha 2024. He suffers a setback after losing by a margin of 269647 votes. He loses to BJP’s CN Manjunath in a humiliating defeat.

DK Suresh’s counterpart, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Dr. CN Manjunath is a renowned cardiologist by profession and is known to be associated with Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research  run by the Karnataka Government in Bangalore.

DK Suresh, The Congress Party

DK Suresh contested from the Bengaluru Rural, again on a Congress Ticket. He previously got elected to the Lok Sabha of 2019 from Bengaluru Rural in Karnataka.

The Former Congress MP DK Suresh is the brother of Karnataka Congress President and Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar.

DK Suresh set the eyeballs rolling after he allegedly demanded a separate nation for Dakshin Bharat.

Previously Caught in the middle of the controversy, Suresh raised his “grievance” that the southern states, particularly, Karnataka, gets lesser funds from the Union Government as compared to the states of Uttar Bharat.

In the heart of his allegations, lies the claim that the tax collected from the states in Dakshin Bharat is given to the “distributor in Uttar Bharat”. This can be inferred as an attempt to target the faultlines of North-South divide in Bharat.

“The Centre is not properly giving the right share of GST and direct taxes to South Indian states. The South Indian states are facing injustice. The money collected from southern states is being given to North Indian states. If this continues, we will be forced to demand a separate country,” the Congress leader said.
He further threatened to raise a demand for a separate country if the trend continues.
“The centre is getting over Rs 4 lakh crore from us and what we are getting in return is negligible. We have to question this. If this is not rectified, all southern states have to raise their voices demanding a separate nation,” DK Suresh added.
