“JITNI ABADI UTNA HAQ”  V/S  “CASTELESS SOCIETY : RAHUL GANDHI  REBUTS  RAJIV  GANDHI  LEGACY

THE CASTE CENSUS,  THE OBCs  and  THE INC

“Caste census is not politics for me, it is my life’s mission, and I will not leave it. No power can stop the caste census. As soon as the Congress government comes, we will first conduct caste census. This is my guarantee”, said Rahul Gandhi at Samajik Nyay Sammelan – ANI.

Confirming To the BJP’s allegations against the Congress of being divisive, Rahul Gandhi took the INC one step closer towards defeat in the ongoing Lok Sabha Elections.

Earlier speaking at the 139th Foundation Day for the Congress in Nagpur, Gandhi reiterated that a caste census will be conducted if Opposition’s INDI Alliance came to power.

Prior to that, Rahul Gandhi made the slogans of “Jitni ABadi Utna Haq” following the results of the Caste Based Census in Bihar.

Rahul asserted that once the INDI Bloc receives mandate from the people, the cap of 50% on the reservations would be increased further and reservations would be provided in proportion to the population of the SCs, STs and OBCs in the country.

When the country got freedom from the colonial-rule, the then stalwarts of the party envisaged a nation where the divisions of the caste would have been erased and everyone had no identity other than being Indians.

If anyone checks the newspaper archives from the 1980s till the days late Rajiv Gandhi steered the Congress Party, he would come across striking dissimilarities between the father-son as their takes on the Backward Communities, particularly, the OBCs, stand at confrontation.

The former PM stood up against the VP Singh Government while the latter made a pitch for an increase in reservations of the OBCs in the Parliament.

Rajiv Gandhi asserted that the Congress vision a casteless society.

“The PM does not have the guts to stand up and say whether he believes in a casteless society or does not believe in a casteless society”, said Rajiv Gandhi in the parliament.

The former PM and the then LOP also said that the Mandal Commission’s recommendations would drag the nation into caste-wars that may act as a trigger the balkanization of India.

Rajiv Gandhi said, “…the manner in which you have implemented the Mandal Commission, to me, it is breaking up my country. Even at this late hour, there is time to pull the country back from this caste division.”

The divisions in the society, the former PM was wary of, are being encouraged by Rahul Gandhi using the Caste Census as tool and catalyzing the Congress’ widely expected defeat in the ongoing Lok Sabha Elections.

With this the Wayanad MP goes a step further towards rebuttal and thus, insult of the legacy of his late father and the former PM, Rajiv Gandhi.

Unlike Rahul, Late Rajiv Gandhi did not disrespect the legacy of the latter’s mother, Late Smt Indira Gandhi, reiterating her slogan,”Na Jaat par, Na Paat par”.
