PM Narendra Modi Juggernaut continues unabated; PM Modi wins Varanasi Lok Sabha 2024
PM Narendra Modi continued his winning streak from Varanasi this Lok Sabha 2024. PM Modi added a new chapter to the history books by winning Varanasi third time in a row as an incumbent Prime Minister. Narendra Modi defeated Congress’ Ajay Rai by more than one lakh and fifty two thousand votes.
The Battle for Varanasi in Lok Sabha 2024 turned out to be a cake-walk as the Congress’ Ajay Rai did not pose a threat to PM Modi. It was in 2014 that PM Narendra Modi had first contested from Varanasi and had won the elections from there by a margin of 63.62 per cent votes and his opponent was the same.
Also in 2019, PM Modi repeated the same fate and registered an emphatic win from Varanasi. During his tenure as an MP from Varanasi, PM Modi transformed Kashi into a world class city. Kashi, that is also known as the city of temples, was developed and one could see modern infrastructure.
Moreover, it was during the tenure of PM Modi that the Kashi Vishwanath Dham was built.
During the election campaign for Lok Sabha Elections 2024, lakhs of people rallied behind him and came out in his support during the roadshow. PM Modi held a roadshow and addressed a Nari Shakti conference in Varanasi before filing his nomination papers on May 14. He was joined by the CM of UP Yogi Adityanath and several other BJP stalwarts.
With PM Modi as the Member of Parliament from Lok Sabha, steered ambitious projects such as Rudrakash center, Medical Hub, Airport Upgrades, Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, Weaver Support.
Whereas Ajay Rai Rai, asserted his local roots and claimed that if the BJP is unseated only then the issues of the local populace can be addressed.
Varanasi is home to the weavers from the Muslim Community in significant numbers. PM Modi retained the Varanasi Lok Sabha Constituency with a 152513 votes. PM Modi won a 63.62% vote share and a margin of over 4.80 Lakh whereas INC’s Ajay Rai won 14.38% votes in the Lok Sabha 2019.
He earlier won the Varanasi Lok Sabha Constituency with 56.37 per cent votes and a margin of 3.72 lakh votes in the Lok Sabha of 2014.
