The Yogi Adityanath-led UP Cabinet showed green-light to a Tata Sons Proposal for building a Museum-of-Temples in Ayodhya. Tata Sons proposed to fund the project with a whopping  Rs 650 crore. Additionally, the UP Government also approved development works proposed by Tata Sons. Union Government joins the Tripartite MOU.  

Yogi Adityanath-led Cabinet of the UP Government has accorded its approval to a Museum-of-Temples, proposed by the Tata Sons. The project is expected to feature history and the glory of Bharat’s archeological prowess manifested by its temples, among it’s rich heritage. As per TOI reports, the Museum costs a whopping 650-crore Rupees, and, will be funded under the CSR initiatives of Tata Sons. A light-and-sound show is being mulled, as an additional feature.

The other projects accorded approval by the Cabinet include renovation of Kothi Roshan Dulha in Lucknow, Barsana Jal Mahal in Mathura, and Shukla Talab (pond) in Kanpur, purportedly forsaken by the previous governments.

Another key approval green-lit by the state cabinet aims to add helicopter services to Lucknow, Prayagraj, and Kapilvastu. The project includes the construction of helipads.

Sources close to the Organinser Weekly claim that the CM of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath put before PM Modi, the museum proposed by Tata Sons in September last year.

Addressing the media persons, Tourism Minister Jaivir Singh claimed that the Government of UP will lease the land to Tata Sons for a Re 1 token amount to facilitate the construction. The lease will span 90 years.

In addition to the museum, projects aimed to further Ayodhya’s transformation, proposed by Tata Sons, were also approved by the Yogi Adityanath-led Cabinet.

According to the media, A K Sharma, the Urban Development Minister, conveyed the plans approved by the State Cabinet, to elevate the infrastructure of Ayodhya to international standards.

The action-plan includes expansion of the sewage system in Ayodhya’s outer areas under the AMRUT YOJANA-2 programme, amounting to the tunes of

Rs 351.40 crore.

Furthermore, the AMRUT YOJANA will reduce the share of local bodies contributed towards the AMRUT YOJANA.

The contribution by Local bodies that serve10 lakh population will stand 15 per cent, half their contributions hitherto, while those serving populations between 1 lakh and 10 lakh will see their contributions reduced to 10 per cent, half their previous contribution of 20 per cent.

The projects aim to comprehensively elevate Ayodhya’s appeal from tourism as well as historic perspective.

After the Praan Pratishtha of the Holy Ram Mandir, at the sacred Janmabhoomi, by PM Narendra Modi on January 22, 2024, Ayodhya has seen an unprecedented surge in the number of pilgrims visiting the city.

As per media reports, Ayodhya receives footfall of a 2-4 lakh pilgrims, every month following the consecration. 

The museum will be constructed in Manjha Jamthara village in Sadar tehsil of Ayodhya.

The construction and administration of the Museum-of-Temples will be undertaken by the Union Ministry of Culture, UP Government and Tata Sons via a Tripartite M-O-U.
